Week 3 Online Journal

Happy Birthday to me!! Ok now that is a little off topic but I had to wish myself a happy birthday.
Now back to business, so far this week, I have done most of my assignments for class at work. Like the discussions, and the journal I am now typing. I was pretty much caught up on week 2 assignments last saturday. I spent most of this week doing other assignments for other classes. I did however just now complete the three discussions for week 3. I went online yesterday evening and looked up some of the mailing lists to subscribe to. I copied the ones I wanted to look into and saved them. I was kinda pressed for time. I did find some that looked like I would be interested in though. I hope to find some information to help me come up with a topic for the MRP. I have completed the discussion assignments, about the essential question, and foundation questions. I don't know if my question has to be my topic or not. I think mine might be a little broad. It is also kind of general, just something that I have been focusing on for a few weeks now. I hope to be able to subscribe to the mailing lists tonight or tomorrow and begin to get some information. I do subscribe to a newsletter already. I have been receiving the newsletter for about 6-7 months now. I subscribed to it last spring when we had our screening folder assignment. I receive different ideas on therapy activities. It is really interesting stuff, and I am sure it will be useful to me. I save them all on a disc so if I need them down the road they are there. That is something I think I have done that helps me understand the importance of computer networking. Anyway I have been busy this week with this class and others. I am still trying to keep up with all the assignments in order as they come, so I don't get caught in a dead rush to finish them in the end. Still-so far so good!

Week 2 Online Journal

Having Monday off was a great way to start my week. I didn’t really do anything for the Labor Day holiday. I think I spent the day doing laundry! I did a little planning for the week. I made post its for the upcoming assignments due and placed them on top of my binders (where they shouldn’t be missed). I went through my planner for the week and made sure I have an idea of what is coming. That is really all the planning I did. I tell myself all the time that I am not going to let anything pile up on me, but sometimes it happens anyway. The week wasn’t too bad.
I try to stay ahead in my classes as much as time permits. I have done pretty well so far. My plan for the week was to write up my observation reports the same evening of that class. I am afraid I might forget, and not understand my notes. I have done pretty well with that. I filled out the case history form to have Haleigh come to the 424 Lab (LONG, LONG, LONG). I read some in the texts, and did the worksheets for one of our classes (still don’t remember the names of them all!) Of course I spent some time on my computer learning all about the web and email and all kinds of new things. So far so good!!
I am still feeling pretty good about the semester. Not too stressed, not too sleepy. Well…. I should admit that I took a little nap earlier (shhh, don’t tell anyone). Haleigh is out visiting and the house is sooo quiet. I feel good yet a little nervous about what is yet to come. I look forward to our times in the clinic observing and evaluating on our own. I like to get down and play with kids. I think it will be fun. I am a little anxious about doing the assessment. There’s a lot to know about the test you use. I just hope I get enough information about it.
I have a few assignments to do this weekend so I suppose I should cut this off and get to it. See everyone Monday.

Week 1 Online Journal

As I started the week I was feeling really "bummed out". I just came back from my honeymoon and wasn't ready for school to start yet. I wanted to stay on the beach for atleast 5 or 6 more weeks (LOL!) But seriously, I have worked really hard this summer (summer classes) and needed a longer break (in my opinion). Nevertheless here I am and I am making it. I thought I would be stressed out by now, but actually I am not. There hasn't been too many assignments so far and everything seems to be manageable.
I do enjoy my computer very much. I look forward to learning all that I possibly can. As I read through all the assignments I actually felt eager to begin. Before three years ago I was one of those people that didn't even know how to turn on a computer. Now I feel very confident in my self to say that I can find my way around pretty well. I ask alot of questions, but that is how I get where I need to be. My husband, being the computer genius that he is, helps me alot. He has taught me all that I know! I must add that my dear friend google helps me alot too. I also receive alot of techno help from MSN tech and gadgets. There is more than one way to get somewhere and hopefully this class will help me find some more.
I do a bit of personal writing on my computer already. I never considered it a journal though. I suppose it would be. I write through out the year to my daughter. I record all the exciting things she is doing (first day of school, first bestfriend, funny things she says) and some of the not so great things (6 year old temper tantrums, smart mouth sayings, and so on). Most importantly I share with her my thoughts and feelings about her growing up. I plan to give these letters to her as an adult. I have been doing this as long as she has been alive and will continue until my fingers stop me.
I use email to stay in touch with the many many friends I have made in the past. I have friends as far away as the Netherlands that I stay in touch with by email. If I didn't have my computer I would be very sad. I get to see my friends' children grow up in a way that wouldn't be possible if it were not for technology. From time to time I even chat with my dad from Alabama.
As this week is coming to an abrupt end, I feel confident that I made it through ok. No worries (so far)!
Well for now I must get ready to cheer the Herd on. My little darling just woke from her beauty rest and we must go tailgate!!
