Week 13 Online Journal

Well let me do this journal yet one more time today. I am really going to be glad when I do not have to deal with antville ever again. I can’t tell you how many times I have had to retype an assignment because when I hit save it cannot bring up the next page. (I am fuming right now) Anyway, let me get back to what I wrote the first time. This week I did not have a lot to do. I set up the navigation around my web page last weekend. Haleigh went to a friend’s for a play date for a few hours so I made good use of my time. I had a feeling that it would take a while. I didn’t use the codes Mrs. McComas sent to the class list, but I got it all done just the same. I used a lot of copy and paste that is for sure. I am pretty proud that I figured it out. It is very tedious work I might add. I wanted to make sure it looked professional and easy to manipulate. That was a huge relief (getting that done.) I also lurked around to see how everyone else was coming along…well just a few anyway. Looks good from here.
I completed the peer responder assignment on Monday or Tuesday last week. So really all I had to do today was write in my journal. I realized I was not an adequate peer responder. I needed to respond more on content than editing. I still don’t feel entirely comfortable with that idea, but will do it anyway (next time).
As for next week I plan to enjoy my family, my time, and the food. I really miss my family. This semester has really taken a toll on us all. I hope everyone has a great holiday, and gets the very much-needed rest. That way we can all come back ready for the last few weeks and get the heck outta here for a month. I look forward to getting to spend some really great quality time with my kids and my husband. As for now…this is Michelle in Ona and I am signing off!! (again)

Week 12 Online Journal

I started out the week in a rush, which was how the whole week went. I never seemed to get one thing finished. When I thought I completed assignments, come to find out I forgot parts. That is just how this whole week has been. I am extremely glad it is almost over. I can't imagine one more week like the last two. I didn't get anything done for this class this week. Oh I thought about it, met on line at the moo, and intended to get something(anything) done. The moo was somewhat helpful. I had a few questions answered, and chatted with my friends for a while.
I am feeling very overwhelmed right now with this and all of my other classes. I don't feel like I am doing very well in any of them. Everything seems so incomplete still. I am not sure how I am going to get everything done on time. I have a million and twelve things to do. (oh I am just whining, I know) My husband is really tired of hearing it so I must write it down.
I just reviewed Kelly's powerpoint presentation (very impressive) as usual. I reviewed Amy's yesterday at work. I think she did a great job in implementing all of her genre's into that letter. I didn't do that with mine. But I still think my powerpoint pulled it all together. I was saving that until the end, because I wanted to be able to put all the options for DAS treatment. I really appreciate the suggestions from Amy and Kelly. I will make those changes soon (not now-but SOON). It is great to get their feedback. I am getting ready to write my preface, acknowledgements, and about the author pieces as soon as I am finished complaining. I hope getting these three things finished will make me feel better. Geesh it can't get any worse around here!

Week 11 Online Journal

I worked on my powerpoint this week to finish up. I wanted to find more information about the treatment of DAS. I found pretty much the same thing in most of my searching. I put my powerpoint together so that if anyone searched on the internet they would find this information all in one place instead of searching in all the different places I did. It is all from very reputable sources, as cited in the presentation. I wanted to pull it all together as a whole. I really like the outcome. I had alot of repetitive information on there along the way, so what I did was to find the most easy to read and understand ones to include in my presentation and deleted the others. I hope this is helpful for anyone needing to know about all the different ways to treat DAS. It includes so many different methods, because as we all know Apraxia comes with many different characteristics needing different treatment. What one kid has another might not. So I do hope this is helpful, it sure helped me to see it all put together. I have had it in so many different places so far - it is nice to see it all together.
I saved my powerpoint presentation for last because I felt like it would tie everything together. It was the ulitmate product. My last project was the letter to the parent stating that Michael needed to begin therapy. I also stated that he had a diagnosis of DAS. I feel like the next thing necessary was to provide information of all the different kinds of treatment there is available, and possible plans for Michael-as I am quite sure he would fall somewhere within.
I did my peer reviews this week early on, as I normally do. I like to see what everyone is doing. As always it is amazing work.
I typed up my references thursday I think. (not sure about the day). That was a nightmare. I really hate how the italicizing has to be manually written in. One little mistake and the whole product is messed up. But with much determination I did it I did it I did it.
I also posted just a little while ago my two genre's for Mrs. McComas to review. I ended up typing in the wrong url, but hopefully she found her way. The internet can be pretty tricky for someone that don't have alot of experience with it (LOL LOL LOL).
Ok now that that is out of my system(whew still laughing). Ok seriously though I am really looking forward to finishing this all up soon. I do see the light at the end of the tunnel. It will be a relief to get it all finished.
I am not sure what my final product will look like as a whole-pretty good I guess. I just can't wait til it is over.
All in all this week has topped them all with being the most difficult. I found out some pretty upsetting news about my dad that keeps my mind occupied most of the time. I do hope and pray that it all works out better than it seems right now.
Well that is all I have to say about that......michelle
